Aug 22 Mark and Kerry Holland with their newly installed ice tank. Kerry used CAD to design the tank, with Hi-Tech Machining of East Tamaki CNC cutting and folding the tank. The tank will be filled with ice and water immediately before a run. This ice tank connects to intercoolers, oil coolers, and a heat exchanger system for engine cooling. There will be up to 10 pumps, pumping water to various locations to keep the temperature at optimum performance. There is a similar system on Wairua 1.
Wairau 1 – On a standard run at Bonneville the car will consume 120lb of ice per run.
Wairua 2 – More testing is needed to determine the consumption of Wairua 2.
