Targa Bambina – Mar 2009

After a complete massive rebuild of our old rally pulsar CMR1 Peter Merry our event manager as codriver  and I headed off on

Saturday morning into our latest fun challenge to compete in the first of three tarmac TARGA tarmac rallies this year.

This rally was on a wide variety of fantastic South Auckland Roads.

As the day progressed in between rain showers we got faster and faster and on the last stage of the day we surprised our selves

with 5th fastest outright. A huge BUZZ considering a big proportion of the field is made up of specially prepared Porshe GT2 GT3,

Bmws,  Audi Quattros, Ferraris, Ford Escort and Sierra Coswoths 4wd Mitsi Evos and Subaru 4wds and many other

specialized cars built especially for tarmac rallying.

Day 2 Sunday started fantastically well with 3rd fastest 2wd on the Ararimu Rd stage which left us 1st in class and 8th overall. Very happy.

Over the next three stages we had fuel pressure problems and lost approx 4 mins.

Our service crew of Mark Bradley and Roger from Wellington performed miracles and changed fuel pumps filters pick up pipes etc

Very quickly without any time penalties. A brilliant effort.

The last 4 stages we got faster and faster and made up enough time to come 2nd in our class and

1st in  the Prestigious performance index class. Fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!

Now to Peter Merrie ??????????????

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK Pete !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you did good.

Actually  Peter was good humored  as usual and very good under pressure when things went wrong. Well done.

Now it is panic to get Micra ready for Gravel testing in 8 days.

Thanks everybody.

The last word goes to old ROSCO who has been helping me on and off for over 36 years and does a fantastic job looking after our

service truck, service gear and spares.

HE WANTS ONE OF THE AIR GUNS IN THE PITSTOP ATTACHMENT.

YEH RIGHT??????????????????? As the saying goes.

.The RALLY season has started. Bring it on.

REGGIE.
