Wairua 2 has been fitted with air brakes. These flaps will be activated at the end of the speed run to assist with slowing the car before the high-speed parachute is deployed. The car is fitted with 2 x high-speed parachutes and 1 x low-speed parachute. Here you can see them in the closed (left) and open (right) positions. They won’t be opened this much once they’re actually fitted to the car. At 550mph they’d probably rip off.
