Targa Rotorua – Jun 2009

Targa Rotorua last weekend was a great success.

The 90 car field included a huge fantastic array of  very modified Mitsi Evos, Subaru, Porsche, BMW,  Ferrari etc cars.

Our Pulsar was a bit outclassed but with several modifications  after Targa Bambina in March 2009

we were hoping for a good result with Peter Merrie as codriver and Mark Roger CG and Sarah as support crew.

Saturday was a huge challenge with 7 Tarmac stages east of Rotorua, 4 of over 35 Kms.

Including twice over the famous Manawahe stage.

Driving in the constantly changing weather conditions of rain, sunshine, hail, thunder storms etc

Was a huge challenge for Peter and I.

Sunday was 9 stages in the  Waikato north and south of Cambridge.

To make it very challenging we encountered fog rain again and loose metal on some roads which had been recently tarsealed.

This Rally really does get your adrenalin going with,

Driving at speeds up to 200Kph. yumping off crests, catching slides at 140Kph on loose metal on tarseal.

Coping with Rain Fog Hail etc

It was a huge challenge and BUZZ to get to the finish in Rotorua late on Sunday.

We had exceeded all our expectations.

Provisionally on the road.

1st in our Class

14th overall

1st overall in Index of Performance.

Then the shit hit the fan.

We were notified as with 20% of the other competitors that we had exceeded a speed restriction

In a special stage and coped a 16 minute penalty.

No prizes or trophies this time.

Just the satisfaction of being part of a great team that conquered all the changing conditions

With great stage times.

We now have until the end of October before the week long Dunlop Targa rally which goes from Auck to Wellington.

Thanks team for a memorable weekend.

Pete you did well, especially your !!!!!!!! ??????? brand of Humour

This weekend is a major Rallsprint in the Micra for CG and I south of Putaruru

Our funny this newsletter you may have seen before but still worth another look is from

Thanks Reggie.
